Trail Blazer

Ron Gibson Testimonial

Reese / Stephen,

I wanted to let you all know the results from the new Yank.

Prior to the Yank I had the Vigilante 9 ½ inch 2400 which you all installed in February of ‘08. This was the first stall converter I had ever owned and was surprised at the drivability difference between stock and this converter. I went with the 2400 in hopes of having a tight stall since the Trailblazer is driven on a semi-daily basis. The very first thing I noticed was the amount of gas pedal it required to get the truck moving. Most of the time, when the truck was in gear, brake pedal released, it would not move on its own. It took quite a bit of gas to get the truck moving. Obviously fuel mileage suffered and in the days of $4.50 a gallon premium it hurt. From February ’08 to July ’08 I averaged 9.7 mpg with the best being 10.6 and worst being 8.9. Performance wise on the Vigilante I was very happy. My best time was a 12.4 @ 109 in my 5000lb behemoth. I was consistently at 8.0 in the 8th with 1.8X 60’s. My best 60’ was a 1.77, this was only once in 89 passes.

Now comes the Yank SC3000. The first thing I noticed with it was the great drivability. The truck moves with much less effort and gas pedal. The very first tank of gas after the install I saw 13.3 mpg with some “playing”. The second tank got me 14.2. My average from September ’07 to January ’08 on the stock converter was 14.8 mpg. I will venture to say my fuel mileage will continue to be within 1 point of stock. Due to the stock nature of the drive I was sure I would suffer at the track. I was ok with this due to the fact the drivability was so much better, boy was I wrong. My times did not suffer one bit and my 60’s were even better. I was consistently laying 1.78’s down with a best of 1.75. My times were still 8.0s.. So stock drivability with at least the same performance and maybe even better with the Yank. What more could you ask for?

Reese, I will try to get the Trailblazer by this week and let you take it for a good test drive. The truck drives phenomenal, very close to stock and so far performs flawlessly. If you have a customer that wants the extra edge but does not want to compromise on drivability I would highly recommend the Yank. We will be going to the ¼ track in Reynolds in two weeks and I see no reason I will not have the same or better results as these were just some shake down runs and there is a little more adjustments to be made in shift points.

Thanks
